Yorgos Mavropsaridis (Greece, 1954) is known as the go-to editor of director Yorgos Lanthimos for whom he edited all his feature films — starting with Kinetta in 2005. Since then, they worked on Dogthooth (2009), The Lobster (2015), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), The Favourite (2018), Poor Things (2023) and recently Kinds of Kindness (2024). Together with Lanthimos, Mavropsaridis developed a unique film language for their films. Using film theories, philosophy and psychology, they set out to use editing, sound and music in a very specific way in order to achieve the most powerful experience for their audience. Mavropsaridis has received multiple nominationsw and awards, including a nomination for an Academy Award and two BAFTA nominations. For his work on The Favourite, he received the ACE Eddie Award.
The masterclass will take place in the Blauwe Zaal of the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, Lucas Bolwerk 24 in Utrecht.
